Season 10 Episode 4: Medicine Lake, MN with Elder Newbold

Hello Family and Friends,

We had a good week lots of exchanges. We are not teaching that many people now, but we are doing our best to find more people.

Monday: We had a really fun p day 8 missionaries all went to our bishops house and played ping pong for a few hours, now that was really fun! I loved it! We had a fun p day, the missionaries in the zone all get a long well and have lots of fun together. It is so fun to be so close to so many missionaries again.

Tuesday: We had district meeting with the Crystal District. We talked about approaches when we are tracting, everyone got some good ideas. This week elder Newbold and I are going to sing " Families can be together forever " to someone at their door. We then went on exchanges in Maple Grove. I went with Elder Cordara he started his mission in Thunder Bay too. We had an amazing day. We had a lesson with a brand new investigator named Jeff Johnson. We taught the restoration and it was such a powerful lesson, we committed him to baptism for November 12th. The spirit was very strong in that lesson! We had a couple of other lessons with some less actives which was really cool too.

Wednesday:  it was a pretty boring day.. Made some phone calls. We had a meeting with the STL's and we had dinner at the Stake Presidents house. That was really fun! He is really cool :) The rest of the night we just biked around trying to see people and didn't really see
anyone.

Thursday We went on exchanges with weaver lake, I went with Elder King who goes home in two weeks.  Wow is he ready to go! It's kinda sad to see that! We had an okay exchange. We biked around in the pouring rain. We had a cool experience, we were soaked and we stopped under a tree and the house we stopped in front of us invited us in and gave us garbage bags to cover us from the rain. They were so nice to us! I felt that we needed to go back so we got cookies from the sisters the next day and brought it buy and said thank you! They just moved in and are a young family, hopefully soon we will be able to go back and do service or teach them.

Friday: We had lots of calls and planning. Bro Wilson who just returned from being the mission president in Virginia took us out to lunch and gave us lots of good advice which I loved a lot. We had all you can eat spaghetti, wow it was good! The rest of the night we rode
our bikes to see someone elder Newbold found on an exchange and she totally forgot who we were so that was too bad! Then we played basketball with some kids for a little bit! It was a good night!

Saturday: We had to fill up the baptismal font early in the morning and then we had coordination meeting with bro gruber that went okay. Then we played frisbee with the district, we invited non members to come but it ended up just being all missionaries haha. Then we went to sister Pue's house to help her move some things out of her house. After that we had to do some things on the computer for the stake meeting on Sunday. At night we had dinner with the Jones family. They are so cool! They took Polaroid pictures of Elder Newbold and I. I will send a picture of one of them :) I had a cool experience that day
as well, Elder Newbold was watching the Mormon message " Message of the Restoration " It's a really powerful video. I was overcome by the spirit. I almost broke to tears. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We have His church and His gospel here. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity everyday to share my testimony of this specific thing. I want you to think "Why is the Restoration important to me in my life?" I just thought I would share with you that experience.

Sunday: We had a great service. No one came to church that we invited! That's okay though, the sisters had an investigator at church named Leanne. She has a baptismal date for October 29th. She is going through a lot and we were able to be apart in giving her a priesthood blessing. I felt so strongly the love in the room. She really is seeking and has found the truth, how great is that? :) Later we had a couple of meetings. President Wilson (Stake President) invited us to come to a stake leadership meeting. President Forbes trained all the Ward Mission Leaders. It was cool! Then we had a meeting with the President Wilson and the stake presidency as well as President Forbes. I was nervous haha. But the meeting went well!

This week was good, I truly love the mission. I love the gospel so much! You're all amazing! Have a good week!

Season 10 Episode 3: Medicine Lake, MN with Elder Newbold

Hello Family and Friends,

We had a good week this week! We are still praying and searching for more people to teach, but we are working hard and doing our best to teach more people.

Here are some of the highlights of the week:

We had a P day with a lot of the missionaries in the zone to celebrate one of the new missionaries birthday. That was a really fun time! P day's are the best when you get to hang out with lots of missionaries! We had MLC again, it was a great meeting. President Forbes talked a lot about Finding, Planning, and helping struggling missionaries. We took lots of notes and it will really help out the zone from what we learned! We had an exchange with the Anoka Elders on Thursday, I went with Elder Gray. He is a great missionary and he is  brand new which is awesome! We contacted a guy who only speaks Spanish so I was able to use what I learned from Kunzler's class a little hahah. It was pretty cool! We have a guy named tom Olson that we are teaching. He is a crazy old man. He has a hard time actually listening to us and what we have to say. So it's very interesting to teach him! But I am grateful for the opportunity I have to teach him.

This week I was thinking a lot about the scripture Helaman 5:12  "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."

I really love this scripture! We need to take a step back and really think is our foundation Jesus Christ? If it is, this scripture promises us that we can withstand all the things that Lucifer will throw at us. I am so grateful for the Savior Jesus Christ. He has done so much for all of us. Being able to help people understand how much he cares about all of us is one of my favorite things! I love wearing my name tag that has His name on it. We are truly his representatives.

One more scripture I wanted to share was Matthew 16:25: "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. I love you all! I love this church! If you do not yet know for yourself that this is the true church, I invite you to read the evidence which is the Book of Mormon. Make this week a great one! I love you all!

Season 10 Episode 2: Medicine Lake, MN with Elder Newbold

Hi Everyone,

We had a good/stressful week of missionary work. :)

I do not have a lot of time to email today, we have a ward party in like 30 minutes.

We had a good week though, we went on exchanges with 3 new missionaries. We have a total of 10 new missionaries in the zone. Most in the mission! It is really a wonderful opportunity to get to know all these elders and sisters. Elder Newbold and I really love the missionaries in the zone.

I love my mission and I am really happy right now! Sorry for the short email, it will be better next week! :)
